Training Center

IBEW Local 257 has always been committed to providing the best trained and qualified Journeymen Wiremen available in the industry. In 1999 we further solidified that commitment by constructing $500,000 state of the art training facility. Here our members receive the training and practical experience necessary to insure that commitment. On this page you will see a small portion of what we offer.

This is a couple of our apprentices learning motor controls in our new state of the art training center. The training station they are using has a multitude of typical components that are found in control of motors and processes.
	Apprentices receive one on one training from their instructor. The instructors are not only trained educators but have many years of practical experience to share with the students. Our facility and instructors demonstrate our commitment providing a highly qualified work force.
Apprentices spend 4 hours a night, one night a week, 9 months a year in training. The subject matter covers basic theory, circuit design, code compliance, computer technology, high voltage terminations and splices, transformers, motors, and safe working practices just to name a few.
	Here you see one of our "Super Cubs" by our hydraulic conduit bender where our students get practical experience in setting up and using this machine. This means that when they show up on the job they have the knowledge and training to get to work and get the job done right.
This is the work station where our classes get practical experience in fire alarm installation and trouble- shooting. Classroom training, although important, is no substitute for hands on experience. We realize that and are committed to providing wiremen that have both.
